It’s only been a few days of 2018 and we already know its going to be the best year EVER. I know this is said every time New Years rolls around and everyone gets super excited (and maybe a little intoxicated), but we meant it. We are getting married in just a few short months and we couldn’t be more excited. With the wedding fast approaching, we have started to slack a little on the travel planning side of Nate & Al’s (you forgive us right?), but we do still have some ideas and travel goals of what we would like to see this year.
Our Travel Goals of 2018 (as of now)
Austin. With the wedding being in Austin (my hometown), we have at least two more trips down there before the wedding to solitify things. Every time we are there, as much as we have a to do list, we always squeeze some exploring time in and see new parts of Austin. You can read about our other visits to Austin here and here.
Cancun/Playa Del Carmen. With winter being what it is in Chicago, we both immediately steered towards warmer weather for our Bachelor/Bachelorette parties. I promise we planned totally separate from each other, but some how ended up settling on the same area. Great minds, right? We will both be headed to Mexico at different times in February and are both super excited for some beach and friend time.
St. Louis. With the wedding being in Austin, we will be spending some time with Nathan’s family in St. Louis over the next couple of months – with the biggest plans on having our wedding shower in St. Louis.
Maldives/Sri Lanka. I know you are probably curious so we’ll let you in on the secret. We decided to spend our honeymoon in the Maldives and Sri Lanka. How did we decide this? My first requirement of our honeymoon was to stay in an over-water bungalow. This has been on my bucketlist for a while and I feel like this is one of the only times we can justify it. With that said, we are definitely not people who can just sit around lounging for more than a few days so we decided to add a second stop to our trip. We toyed forever with what that second stop would be, looking at the map hundreds of times to see what options were close (only a few hours by plane) and not totally out of the budget. We originally settled on Thailand, but the more and more we researched, we realized that we just didn’t have the time to do Thailand the justice it deserves. Therefore, Sri Lanka it is. We are super excited to get a mixture of beach, jungle, mountains, tea plantations – just so much adventure packed into one trip.
And…that’s all we have. I wish we had more, but with the wedding, we pretty much can’t see past May and honestly, we are totally ok with that. When the second half of 2018 rolls around, we’ll see where life and travel takes us.
